Current Status: In operation Built: 1966 (Walkers Maryborough) Type: Diesel hydraulic locomotive Weight: 37t Length: 11.1m Gauge: 1,067mm gauge (3ft 6in) This 40 ton diesel locomotive was built in 1966 by Walkers Ltd., Maryborough and spent its working life for Queensland Railways as a versatile all needs locomotive. The DH class was quite a successful locomotive in shunting yards. The loco was leased to the Southern Downs Steam Railway but thanks to the generosity of a Southern Downs Regional Council grant, it is now fully owned by us. It is currently used for hauling SDSR’s tourist train when required for fire bans, steam locomotive unavailability, and even for the occasional scheduled service. It is used regularly for shunting within the Warwick Yard. It would be one of only a couple of this class still operating on Queensland Rail main lines.
