Roma to Toowoomba by train – 1 night 2 days (train tour, accommodation, meals, transfers included)

Roma to Toowoomba via train/bus is a 1 night, 2 day tour which includes your 2 day heritage rail tour to Toowoomba and return to Roma from Toowoomba by bus.

Itenary:

Day 1 – 15th June

11.00am Depart Roma Railway Station.

Boxed lunch onboard.

Stop at Miles to stretch your legs (loco takes on water).

Arrive Chinchilla, bus transfer to your motel, dinner.

Day 2 – 16th June

7.30am Breakfast

Chinchilla Museum Tour

Depart Chinchilla

Stop at Dalby for lunch on the station platform

4.30pm Arrive Toowoomba

5.00pm Bus departs for Roma

10.00pm Bus arrives home in Roma (Roma Railway Station)

Important Information:-

1. If you have a dietary reqjuirement of a medical nature please advise us by email events@downsexplorer.org.au no later than 7 days prior to departure. It is difficult to accommodate special requests on the day of travel

2. If you would like to sit with friends/passengers who have not booked in your group please email your request to events@downsexplorer.org.au

In such events we reserve the right to make whatever changes are necessary, without compensation. Where steam is unavailable, SDSR will replace it with a Diesel Locomotive.

Times shown on brochures are subject to approval of the relevant authorities and could differ on the day. Correct times will be advised on your tickets or by special email. Refunds will not be given for last minute variations to timetables caused by events outside the control of SDSR.

Warwick to Stanthorpe, Ballandean, Wallangarra Station & Girraween National Park Tour incl Lunch on the station platform

7:30 – Arrive at Warwick Station

8:00 – Depart Warwick for Stanthorpe

10:15 – Arrive Stanthorpe Station. Enjoy morning tea on the platform (included in your ticket) reboard the train for Ballandean. Bus (15min) to Wallangarra Railway Station. 2 course lunch on the platform. Reboard the bus for a tour of the Girraween National Park – Queensland HIGH COUNTRY.

15:15 – Arrive back at Stanthorpe Station ready to Board your train for trip back to Warwick

15:30 Depart by train to Warwick

18:00 – Arrive at Warwick Station

DETAILS

Depart Warwick Station at 08:00am for a leisurely day on the heritage train.

After easing into the uphill sections between Warwick (1,492ft), and Silverwood (1,913ft), we leave civilisation and wind up past sandstone ruins of Spring and Mineral Creek bridges before a short stop to check the locomotive before passing through the two tunnels on the line.

After this brief pause, it’s time to enjoy the spectacular views as we climb the Silverwood range to Dalveen where we pass The Summit (3,035ft), the highest QR station. Since leaving Warwick, we have risen 1,543 feet in the space of 32 miles. After passing The Summit we coast down into Stanthorpe for a 30 minute stop. DEpart Stanthorpe by train and explore the regions High Country. Disembark Ballandean. Bus to Wallangarra. Lunch. Bus back to Stanthorpe via the Girraween National Park (one of Australias most unique destinations).

We will depart Stanthorpe at 3.00pm to make our way back down the range with a setting sun before we arrive back in Warwick at 6.00pm.

11:30 – Train to depart Warwick Station

12:15 – Arrive Hendon and Locomotive will run around train ready for departure to Warwick – Please note passengers are unable to get off train

13:15 – Train to arrive Warwick

Looking for something to do with the children during the school holidays. The Downs Explorer will be departing from Warwick Railway Station to nearby destinations for a round trip of 1.5 hours only… An ideal time frame for young children.

Every Child will receive free crayons and activity booklet.

These short trips give the children something to talk about and experience train travel of a by gone era. Best of all we consider it to be not only affordable but exciting and something different. Great fun for all the family!!

Warwick to Stanthorpe – Return (Train only)

0800 – Train Departs for Stanthorpe

1030 – Arrive at Stanthorpe Station ( morning tea is available on the station and included in your ticket)

15:45 – Depart Stanthorpe destination to Warwick
